If you are searching for a compassionate and skilled doctor to fit you with dentures, come to Gordon Dental Associates today.  Dentures are a fantastic option for patients that are either missing some or all of their teeth.

Benefits of Dentures

Dentures in St. Augustine offer a wide array of benefits, both functional and aesthetic.  When teeth are lost, the bone beneath can begin to atrophy, leaving a patient with a ‘sunken face’. When dentures fill the space, they help support the bone and tissue to prevent that from happening. In addition, dentures that fit well help with speech and eating. Lips and gums are once again supported and modern dentures are capable of chewing all your favorite foods. Lastly, missing teeth can be detrimental to a person’s self-esteem. Patients are often embarrassed to smile. When dentures fill the spaces of missing teeth, your smile will appear natural, and smiling will be enjoyable again.

Full Dentures

There are several options for types of dentures, depending on how many teeth are missing. If you are missing all of your teeth either on the top arch, bottom arch, or both, Dr. Gordon will discuss full dentures. Full dentures will be a complete set of teeth for an entire arch.

Partial Dentures

If you are missing several teeth from the top or bottom arch, Dr. Gordon may discuss the option of a partial denture.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures are for candidates with viable bone to accept surgically implanted tooth-root replacements. Dental implants are placed in order to anchor the denture in place. Implant-supported dentures are fixed to the implants and therefore will not slip or move.

Depending on your individual circumstance there may be slight differences to the protocol; however, a typical denture experience includes taking precise measurements of your mouth and gums and making molds of the area. Dr. Gordon takes facial shape, gums, jawline, and overall aesthetics into account when creating your dentures. The molds are then sent to a lab where the prosthetic is created and then you will come back into the office for a fitting. Dr. Gordon will take great care to make sure the denture fits perfectly and will provide information on caring for your new dentures.

Implant-supported dentures will also include the surgical placement of dental implants.

After you are fitted and Dr. Gordon is pleased with the result, you can enjoy smiling, eating, and speaking normally again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dentures can be an excellent solution for replacing multiple missing teeth, and even an entire arch. Here's what you should know.

Understanding Dentures in St. Augustine, FL

Partial Dentures

A partial denture replaces multiple missing teeth while maintaining your natural, healthy remaining teeth. The partial is removable and attaches to healthy teeth as anchors with plastic or metal clasps. Prosthetic teeth are attached to the appliance and fill in the gaps left by missing teeth.

Complete Dentures

A full or complete denture replaces an entire upper or lower arch of teeth. The appliance is made of acrylic and thoughtfully designed by our dentists to support your facial structure and complement your skin tone for a natural look.

Traditional dentures are removable and rely on suction and a snug fit to your jawbone to stay in place. Our dentists can also use two to six dental implants to support a denture, which snaps into them. Implant dentures help you avoid movement and slippage during talking and eating.
